"The only way to find your true self is by recklessness and freedom."
-Brenda Ueland, If You Want to Write
This writing workshop will explore writing as a means of letting our unique way of being in the world speak for itself. We will engage in a series of experiential writing exercises to learn to listen to ourselves, to trust this-moment mind, to awaken to the mystery of what’s here - in a word, to pay attention.
The workshop takes place in the context of Village Zendo’s summer retreat and is an opportunity to commune deeply with the self and to experience the warmth and diversity of community. Lastly, did we mention the restorative power of a weekend in the Hudson Valley?
Barbara Joshin O'Hara, Sensei, teaches writing at NYU and is a psychotherapist in private practice.
