The Healing of Memories

An Evening with Father Michael Lapsley

Wednesday, May 7, 2008
7:15 pm—9:00 pm

“Do I need a safe space where I can begin to let go of that which is poisonous within me – because of what I have done, because of what was done to me, because of what I failed to do? Do I need to begin a journey of forgiveness for the sake of my own freedom?”
     —Father Lapsley

Father Michael Lapsley, an Anglican priest and antiapartheid activist who, in 1990, lost both hands and one eye in a letter bomb explosion, is a renowned advocate for reconciliation, forgiveness, and restorative justice.  He is the founder of The Institute for the Healing of Memories in Cape Town, a trust which—through workshops, seminars and talks—is committed to facilitating the healing process of individuals and communities not only in South Africa but in countries around the world.

Please join us when Father Lapsley visits the Village Zendo to speak about his work in developing the Healing of Memories workshop  which strives to offer a safe space in which our stories can be told and heard.

Fr. Lapsley talk, video, Q & A: 7:15—9:00
